The brief was to design a sleep based space  for a client who plans to stay in Sheffield overnight. The setting needs to respond to site and context as well as tackling the issues about the future of hospitality and in-habitation.

The Client is an Ornithologist with an outgoing personality who needs somewhere to stay to observe and check the welfare of birds in the area as part of a large wildlife conservation project. After that, she will then relax in their room and watch films while they write down their findings.

The final design involved having the rooms resemble giant birdhouses that pop out of the side of the hotel. Each floor also contains a small kitchen for its residents with the top floor having a balcony to allow people to look over the city center. The hotel’s exterior is also covered with moss and smaller birdhouses in order to attract birds to this space as well.
